About Manteca

Called the "Family City", Manteca's 67,000 residents choose the area for its quality of life and many commute to nearby metro areas. The original residents intended to name their community Monteca, but a misspelling by the Pacific Railroad named the local train stop Manteca and the name eventually stuck.

The Manteca Museum preserves the rich history of the area. For entertainment, Kelly Bros. Brewing Co. offers microbrews and slow-cooked barbecue in a restored move theatre.

Public schools in Manteca are part of the Manteca Unified School District. There are no middle schools; elementary school continues through the 8th grade, with a mix of both year-round and traditional schools. Manteca Unified School District has 19 elementary schools, 5 high schools, and 2 continuation schools.
